The Friendly Rod is not recommended for grinding or any serious fishing use unless the player obtains it incredibly early on from a Friend Quest as it is very easily outclassed by other money-focused rods in almost any stage of the game. It is instead recommended to use this rod for its ability to catch Friend Fish, if the player wishes to collect them for novelty or trade value, or simply for the sake of having them as this rod is the only way to catch them.
